Steps to turn your real life story into a novel with Robert Markowitz

The presentation, How Writers Create Fiction from their Lives, is aimed both at writers (fiction & memoir) and non-writers who are curious about how to augment a narrative. Additionally, Ernest Hemingway fans, or anyone interested in drastic career change (the topic of Robert’s novel Clown Shoes) would enjoy the program.
Using Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises as an example, Robert offers four insights on how to shape a life experience into compelling fiction. They are: 1) Find the deeper meaning; 2) Raise the stakes; 3) Identify or create a human antagonist; 4) Condense the time-line.
Robert shows how Hemingway did this in converting his notes on his trip to Pamplona, Spain into fiction, and also how Robert used these insights to strengthen the story line of Clown Shoes.
But the “secret sauce,” Robert argues, is to include an impactful relationship which pervades the story, provoking personal growth in both parties.
