FOTL Presents: A Revolution of Her Own

May 9, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FOTL PRESENTS
A Revolution of Her Own!  A Story of the American Heroine Deborah Sampson
at the Truro Community Center
Judith Kalaora, professional educator, actress, and living historian, portrays Deborah Sampson, the first woman to enlist in, to fight for, and to be honorably discharged from the American Military.  An indentured servant by age five, she lived in a man’s world where women were naught but second-class citizens. But this self-educated, master-less woman felt a higher calling, so she bound her chest, tied back her hair, and enlisted in the 4th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army as “Robert Shurtlieff.” This American heroine will take you back in time!  Judith Kalaora is a graduate of the Globe Education Program of Shakespeare’s Glove Theatre in London. She founded History at Play™ in 2010 to provide educational entertainment, chronicling the lives of influential and often forgotten women.
