The Truro Public Library is pleased to welcome Dave DeWitt back for “Think Ahead to Spring Gardening: Winter Planning Sessions with Dave DeWitt” on Wednesdays from 4:00–5:00 p.m., presented in person and as a Zoom Webinar.
You must register for each session individually!
January 19: Soil|Compost|Mulch–We will begin with the foundation of any successful garden, SOIL. Dave will discuss our native soil pros and cons, how to bring and keep your soil’s health in balance, and productive utilization of compost and mulch. January 19 registration link here.
January 26: Garden Plan|Crop Rotation|Seeds–Every productive garden requires a good realistic plan. Dave will talk about the steps to gardening on paper, starting with seed catalogs, crop rotation, and planting schedules. We will then tackle starting seeds at home and buying plants from your local nursery. January 26 registration link here.
February 9: Organic Pest and Disease Control–This class we will dig into the most important concept in organic pest and disease control, prevention. We will discuss common and uncommon pest and disease problems on the Cape and elsewhere. You will learn about pest ID, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and organic tools to combat these challenges when they arrive in your garden.February 9 registration link here.
February 16: Beyond Organic–In the last class of our series Dave will introduce more advanced production methods. Catering to the home gardener, he will discuss Bio-Dynamic, Regenerative Agriculture and Korean Natural Farming (KNF), production models that go beyond conventional organic gardening and farming.
