Improvisation: A Special Family Workshop Series
Saturday, April 7 and Saturday, April 14, 1:00 p.m.
The Truro Public Library presents “Improvisation,” a special family workshop series with John Shuman for children 10 years and older.  What’s difference between acting from a script and making up a script as you act? Come have fun letting the  moment “write” the scene!
John Shuman is a professional actor, director, and writer. His credits include “La Cage Aux Folles” on Broadway and “Fantasticks,” “Moonchildren,” and “The Dishwashers” off-Broadway. Extensive regional theatre experience includes work at the Guthrie Theatre, Alley Theatre, Yale Rep, Portland ( Maine) Stage, and Portland (Oregon) Center Stage. Film and TV: “Movie 43,” “Boardwalk Empire,”  “Melrose Place,” and “Guiding Light.” A new resident of Wellfleet, John has appeared on the Cape at WHAT and at the Cape Playhouse. He studied improvisation with Paul Sills, the son of Viola Spolin, who is credited with developing the technique in the 1940s. Her work was aimed to help the socially disadvantaged in Chicago. Paul used the form in his theatre classes at the University of Chicago and it became the source for the creation of the  Second City Theatre.
