Book Groups

The Truro Library Book Group is now meeting virtually and in person on the last Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Please check our events calendar for the upcoming selections. Copies are available at the circulation desk a few weeks before the discussion. New members are welcome! Please call the library or email Maggie Hanelt for more information.

The Zoom Mystery Book Group meets on the first Monday of every other month (in even-numbered months) at 6:00 p.m. to discuss a wide range of different types of crime fiction. Click here for a list of past selections. Copies of books are available at the circulation desk at least a month before each meeting, and titles are always available in regular print, e-book, and large print and/or audio in order to be considered for selection. Auto-captions are included in Zoom meetings for those who choose to see them. Email Chris to be added to the email list and receive a Zoom link for future meetings.

Many people join book clubs to discuss books with others (making reading more than a solitary activity), to enjoy conversation, food, and drink with others, and to make new friends.  We are proud to host a chapter of the Next Chapter Book Club (NCBC) here in Truro, in an effort to offer opportunities for regular social connections, authentic community inclusion, and life-long learning to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We hope that anyone interested in being a member or a facilitator will contact us to learn more. Click here to download a document with more information about the club and why people like to join. If you are interested in joining, please call Maggie at the Library (508-487-1125).
