WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
How do you create dynamic characters? How do you seduce the audience into your story? How do you develop engaging stories that reveal your deeper message in any visual medium?

This workshop teaches the writer the art and craft behind how to create captivating characters, and how to structure a story dramatically, with tension, seduction and payoff. By breaking down and dissecting screenplays and teleplays (television scripts), this workshop explores the creative process of the writer and the how to in relationship to structuring and revealing CHARACTER.

Writers exploring their work on screen or stage, or any artist who is looking to reach a wider audience through a visual representation will learn the skills and sharpen their tools in developing dynamic characters.

IN CLASS EXERCISES
By exploring how writers use visual description, internal conflict and the deeper concept of the ‘Broken Protagonist’, students will learn how to position a character in the story’s narrative and seduce the audience into the Hero’s QUEST. What they want, what stands in their way and how they are taking action to achieve it?

This workshop will engage students in ‘Method Based’ writing exercises, in both group and individual practice, and look at the visual expression of story in film and television.
