Nature Spirit Masks with Maya Apfelbaum

June 22 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Masks are empowering and fun to make. They are important parts of ancient and contemporary art, theatre and rituals, so please bring your curiosity and imagination and come make one!

Our process will begin with a quick introduction and a short guided meditation to help you choose an aspect of nature such as the sea, wind, butterflies or trees as the focus of your Nature Spirit mask.

Inspired by your subject, you will then design, draw or paint facial features onto your blank mask. Time permitting, you’ll decorate your masks with materials like feathers, shells, seeds, glitter and/or ribbons to complete your creation!

You will take home a beautiful and expressive Nature Spirit mask to wear and/or display.

Please wear comfortable clothes that you won’t mind getting markers or paint on.

Also please note you can bring your own lunch and then stay to work on your mask longer. This is often a good idea for letting paints or glue dry – and for furthering your creative process.
