Henna Tattoos with Jennifer Stratton

August 31, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join us behind the Library where Jennifer Stratton will offer a demonstration about and give temporary henna tattoos for kids 10 and up.

Henna is a powder derived from crushed leaves of the henna plant. The earliest use of this plant dates back to the Pharaohs in Egypt, some 9,000 years ago. Cleopatra was known to beautify her body with it.

In India, it is customary for brides to get their palms done with very intricate henna designs. Many of the designs are secret symbols of prosperity, love, loyalty, fertility and good luck.

In the West, it is more popular as temporary henna tattoos for fun and that is how we will use it at the Truro Library.
