Green Burial Options

September 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Cremation is generally much less expensive than a conventional burial. However, the cremation process requires the use of fossil fuels and produces a variety of air pollutants: carbon monoxide, mercury and dioxin, among others. Returning to our old ways of burying loved ones using green techniques helps to conserve resources, protect groundwater and return bodily nutrients to the soil. Come hear how the the Lily House  and the Town of Truro came together to help a Truro resident navigate the process of a green burial for his wife.

Panel: Dawn Walsh Executive Director of The Lily House, Truro resident Richard Pask, and Holly Ballard-Gardner, Chair of the Truro Cemetery Commission

About The Truro Climate Action Committee: The Truro Climate Action Committee primary focus is to investigate, study, and make recommendations to the Select Board on minimizing the Town’s carbon footprint and minimizing the vulnerabilities to the consequences of climate change.
