Film: “Auroville: City of the Dawn”

September 27, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Travel with Ellen Anthony to the experimental community of Auroville in southern India. Fifty years since its beginning, people from over forty nations are living a version of human unity in all aspects of life—economy, work, spirituality, governance, and education. The dream of Auroville is that of a place where human relationships, which are normally based almost exclusively on competition and strife, would be replaced by relationships of emulation in doing well, of collaboration and real brotherhood. Residents come from some 49 nations, from all age groups (from infancy to over 80, averaging around 30), and from all social classes, backgrounds, and cultures, representing humanity as a whole. The population of the township is constantly growing, but currently stands at around 2,500 people, of whom approximately one-third are Indian. Today Auroville is recognized as the first and only internationally endorsed ongoing experiment in human unity and transformation of consciousness, also concerned with, and practically researching, sustainable living, and the future cultural, environmental, social, and spiritual needs of mankind. The 55-minute film will be followed by a Q&A with Ellen, who visited the community last February.
