August Art Exhibit: Warren Green
Paintings by Warren Green
Opening Reception Friday, August 4, 4-6 pm
Warren F. Green was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. He spent his professional career living near Boston, working for eleven years at Massachusetts General Hospital. He then worked privately as a dentist and orthodontist and taught part-time for twenty five years at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. For the past twenty years he has studied and evolved in the field of Fine Arts and has been supported by his family, friends, and patrons.
Warren made his first oil painting at age eleven. In his spare time he studied at the Montseurrat College of Visual Art, the Decordova Museum School, The Cape Cod School of Art, The Provincetown Fine Arts Workshop, and the Museum School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Originally inspired by sculptures and pastels, he found a preference for oil and has been painting in oil since. His main studio is at 6 Atwood Road in Truro. He spends winters in Northern California, allowing him to paint outdoors year round.
I paint as a form of poetic expression and at times use music to help express my mood about a landscape. The subtle nuances of light and shadow, weather, time of year and time of day all play upon my depiction of the complexity of the colors I see. I try to awaken the senses and the heart to the moment we see before us in the natural world.
