Author Talk: Sam Kafrissen

Sam Kafrissen will read from his latest novel, The Missing Films: A Doherty Mystery. PI Doherty is back—but his closest friend is missing. Hired by the man’s business partner and generously paid to find him, Doherty finds himself unraveling a tale of political corruption, blackmail and murder. The only clue he has to work with is that his missing friend was searching for a sleazy operator who deals in hot goods and drugs. Doherty’s hunt for both men leads him into the nether world of drug dealing, prostitution and smut films. Along the way two people are murdered and Doherty’s investigation uncovers a shakedown operation that may involve some political players in the budding Kennedy-for-President campaign. Despite his early suspicions that this will be a simple missing persons case, Doherty finds himself unraveling a tale of political corruption, blackmail, and murder.

Sam Kafrissen is a former history teacher who enjoys exploring historical, political, and cultural contexts in his novels. He has published several short stories in two collections called Mosaic and Mosaic Two, and writes feature and sports stories for his local newspaper, The Arlington Advocate.  This is his third novel, following The Lost Survivor: A Doherty Mystery and The Mill Town: A Doherty Mystery.  He and his wife split their time between Arlington, MA and Truro.
